Margiela & Marina Yee Retrospective

TOKYO MOOD

Printings.jp, a platform dedicated to publishing and curating fashion and art-related printed matter, is releasing a MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA archive book titled “0 0 10.” This marks a highly anticipated new publication, the first in seven years.

From the artisanal works created by Martin Margiela himself between 1989 and 2009, a total of 688 pieces were photographed over several years—446 from the women’s line “⓪” and 242 from the men’s line “⓪⑩.” Spanning 720 pages across two volumes, this publication is a systematically compiled archive book centered on the rare works held in the collection of LAILA, the parent entity of printings.jp.

SIZE:H280 x W210 mm

Printings.jp curates and sells fashion magazines, photobooks, and art publications―but also a wide range of fashion-related printed matter, including seasonal lookbooks, invitation cards, and posters produced by fashion designers. To date, it has produced and published archive books such as Raf Simonsʼ “1996‒2001 / 2001‒2006” and Helmut Langʼs “1986‒2005.” Through its publishing activities, printings.jp continues to document and preserve fashion as a form of cultural heritage.

To celebrate the release of this book, an exhibition organized by LA MUSEUM will be held, featuring “Artisanal” pieces included in “0 0 10,” along with artisanal works created by Marina Yee who had a close relationship with Martin Margiela and was also a member of the Antwerp Six, active during the same era. In the “Lab Space,” approximately 70 additional artisanal pieces by Martin Margiela will be exhibited, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience the works firsthand.

Guests will be able to closely examine each piece by handling them directly, gaining insight into their internal construction, stitching techniques, and intricate details.

*Please note: advance reservations are required, and entry will be managed on an hourly rotation basis.

“Artisanal” was an approach that challenged the existing fashion system driven by the constant creation of new trends, instead emphasizing respect for garments that already exist. By utilizing the inherent qualities of materials, re-dyeing aged fabrics, adding embellishments, and breathing new life into them through handcraft, these works embody a unique philosophy.
